  • What people and objects are shown?I don't see any people but I do see the building with windows , stairs and a desk and the picture looks faded.

  • Why do you think this image was made? I think this image was created because it was a coffee house in Alabama and I bet some of the customers wanted to remember it because there were memories created here.
  • What’s happening in the image? Noting in this image is happening except the building having it's picture taken.
  • When do you think it was made? I think this picture was made a long time ago in the middle 1900's because its in black and white and the building looks extremely old.

  • Describe what you see. I see dead plants and everything looks depressing and dead.
  • What do you notice first? I first notice the dead plants hanging over and in the background there looks like there are many more dead plants.
  • What people and objects are shown?The dead plants are corn and they are all dring and dried up.

  • What can you learn from examining this image? ·I can learn that back then the crops may have not been that great. Also I can learn that during the depression people probably had trouble farming and making money.
  • What’s missing from this image? There are no people in this image and there isn't a lot there except dying crops. I don't see the explanation in the picture on why the crops are the way they are. I also don't see any farming tools.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different? I think the picture would be in color and maybe the crops wouldn't have been weeping. I think they would be alive and healthy.

  • What can you learn from examining this image? · I can learn about how things were run back then. These stores look very different from stores now a days.
  • What’s missing from this image? There are no people in this image and I can't see what the signs say. The signs don't pop out at you like they would nowadays.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different? I think the story would be bigger, the sign would have been lit up and there would be people parked outside the story caring produce that they have purchased.

  • What do you notice first? I notice the big sign that says "Hotel Clark" and how there are clothes hanging up from below.
  • What people and objects are shown? The people outside are all colored and i see clothes hanging outside.
Reflect
  • Why do you think this image was made? I think this image was made to show how much segregation mattered back then. I also think it was to show that The Depression caused people to buy their clothes secondhand or maybe only colored people had to do that.
  • What’s happening in the image? I this image it looks like the colored folk are buying clothes outside this secondhand thrift shop.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different? I don't think there would be sign up telling the public that only colored people could shop here. Nowadays anyone can shop anywhere because they have the right and freedom too.

  • Describe what you see.I see a lot of people outside waiting for a bus. The bus looks like it is about to hit some of the townspeople and a sign that says, "White Waiting Room."
  • What do you notice first? The first thing I notice is the bus because it looks as though its going to run the people over. Maybe it got into an accident.
  • What people and objects are shown? There are a lot of people in this picture but they are all white and I can really notice the giant old schooled bus.

  • Why do you think this image was made? I think this image was taken to show that bus fair was a very efficient way of getting around back then and how segregation was a big part of society.
  • What’s happening in the image? In this image it looks like every white person is trying to get on a bus. The bus looks like it is going to hit the people though so maybe a riot broke out.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different? I don't think there would be sign telling everyone that only whites could stand there and sit where they have to and these days blacks and whites are friends and friendly so there would never be a need for signs to be put up everywhere. I also don't think the buses would look like that now.

  • Describe what you see. In this picture I see a store with a sign that says, "Bryant's Place." Then on the other side it says, "For Colored."
  • What do you notice first? I first notice the bottles laid out in the window and how there is another sign saying, "Hot Fish."
  • What people and objects are shown?There are not people in this picture but I see there is another store next to this one which makes me wonder if that is for only colored too.

  • Why do you think this image was made? I think this image was taken to again show the importance of how people felt back then about colored and not colored.
  • What’s happening in the image? In this image there is just a store saying that only colored people could come in and but hot fish I assume.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different? Again there would be no segregation signs and the building would probably be more nicer looking and cleaner.
